LastPass acted exactly like we wish most companies would act: responsibly. And the press’ response? Declaring LastPass “hacked” and “vulnerable”, and placing them in the same category as Sony—who stored passwords and complete credit card information in plain text, and were actually hacked.

Quicksilver: Mac OS X at your Fingertips [Sponsor]

Quicksilver is back! I, for one, could not be happier.

Many in-the-know know the long and often troubled history of the ultimate file launching and manipulation utility. Originally developed by a shadowy figure named Alcor, in it’s day it was the one Mac app I could not have a machine without. Then, Alcor was “hired” by some clandestine corporation calling itself “Google” and, even though open sourced, the development of the app trailed off. Compatibility with the OS and updates to the app suffered along with it’s many users. The future of this once great power seemed doomed.

Recently, I got a mysterious email from someone. He had the same name as mine but, clearly, was someone, or perhaps something, different. This message informed me that a secret team of code ninjas had been formed to rescue Quicksilver from the hands of certain doom and bring it back to life. He pledged that he could make it stronger, faster, even better than it was before.

It is with with that pledge, that mission, in hand that it returns to my Mac. It allows me to do near superhuman things with files and applications. Launching apps, moving files, clipboard history, text manipulation. It makes me a frakkin Ninja and my Mac a Ginsu Knife (or something like that).

Oh, did I mention it was free? Free! A word no more true now than ever.

Download it now. Save your sanity. Save humanity!

The 22-year-old said her boyfriend had been calling her “the ashes” for a long time, but that neither he or she could remember why he had given her this nickname.
